Thematic Clusters

The next step for DESIS is to create Thematic Clusters: groups of design teams, based on different DESIS Labs, working on similar topics. Their aim is to build arenas for discussing on-going projects, comparing tools and results, and where new joint initiatives can be started.

DESIS has grown over the past few years. Now it is time to focus (its aims) and consolidate (its organization). These topics have been discussed on several occasions, including the DESIS Forums in Shanghai, September 2010, and Paris, May 2011.

This year, in its 4th edition, the international Communitarian Film and Video Festival, Ojo Al Sancocho, based in Bogotá, kindly opened a space for DESIS to share visions and enable dialogue regarding the role of representing active communities using the tools of communication design.

In January 2010, the China-US Center for Sustainable Development approached TEKTAO design studio (headquarter to DESIS China) http://www.tektao.com.cn to lead the design and construction coordination of a new sustainable school in Liangping County to replace one damaged in the 2008 earthquake.
