DESIS Lab (DESIS Research Center) at Jiangnan University was founded as collaboration of School of Design, Jiangnan University and Indaco, Politecnico di Milano at the end of 2008 When the DESIS initials is in perception in a small of group researchers leaded by Prof. Ezio Manzini. It’s a spinoff of Chita 08 project “Mobile Communication and Collaborative Service”, a very successful collaborative project between two universities in the field of Service design for Social innovation. On the one hand, it aims to consolidate the DESIS related research in School of Design, Jiangnan University, it’s also an interlocutor to promote the DESIS initial in China. After dynamic research, exchange and collaboration in China, DESIS-China network was founded in May of 2009.
In last 3 years, DESIS Lab actively organized a number of DESIS oriented activities in teaching, research and international collaboration, including the long-term collaborative programme DESIS workshop with Politecnico di Milano, a series of courses in service design for sustainability and international seminar and special issues of design journal.
