labDESIS has just been established at Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana as part of theIndustrial DesignCommunity & Product Module.With a 12 hours week intensity distributed like this:
Design workshop: 6 hrs
Research LAB: 2 hrs
Community theory: 2 hrs
Alternative production: 2 hrs
In the past there were a group of students who coursed the Social Innovation workshop given by Los Andes University with professor E. Manzini followed of his visit to our institution in Medellín.
Also, in the Strategic design and innovation specialization students had a 2 weeks social innovation oriented module accompanied by Ana Isabel Palacios and Marcos Vallejo in 2008 and Andrea Mendoza from Los Andes University in 2009.
Motivation
Promote Social Innovation as part of the design profession and as a tool for sustainability.
Strengthening social fabric involving students and the community.
To generate a case’s data based in our own classwork experience. Sharing these findings with DESIS Network and the university’s community.
Be able to develop a Medellin’s tailor-made for design methodology based on this work.
