The Colimar: Women's cooperative for mariculture products

The Colimar - Women's cooperative for mariculture products - Founded in 2003 by the wives of some fishermen in the city of Governador Celso Ramos - Santa Catarina - Brazil, which were grouped in a cooperative in order to add value to products from the fisheries and generate employment and income for families. Its activities are supported by the Federal University of Santa Catarina, the NASdesign (Center for Systems Approach to Design) and the Department pósdesign UFSC with regard to quality of life of the cooperative from the ergonomic design of the workplace and in the composition of the system Visual Identity in order to strengthen your company's corporate generating integration and unity by members of the cooperative. Thus, to Colimar is presented as an example of social innovation that fits in the precepts of network desis advancing the practice and study design as a facilitator of processes of social innovation for sustainability in Brazil.

 

Project: From the fish and seafood, the fishermen's wives began to produce products such as pastels, dumplings and other frozen foods to sell to restaurants and supermarkets. The expected results and achieved in part are, grab market share for products, standardize production within the parameters of the product quality and satisfaction for workers, and thus promote the economic development of the Cooperative, as well as the town itself from the disclosure and add value to these products, thereby generating the local social development and enhancement of local natural resources.

 
Design's role: 
To offer products better suited to the reality of the market, designers have developed training activities of the cooperated for Design Management within the cooperative and the community in search of sustainability, promoting integration between economic, social and cultural groups in the process of local sustainable development. Also designed the visual identity, packaging and signage. In addition, we sought to ergonomics of the workplace, by identifying the physical constraints related to work within the cooperative, from the application of methods and techniques of ergonomics also considering cognitive and organizational constraints. Thus, the design promotes the valorization of products, workers, natural resources and the community itself.
